It will be the last day of Sunday School and the Board of Education is sponsoring a church picnic. They will furnish the hotdogs, buns and brats and everyone who attends should bring a dish to pass.

Spring aluminum can drive The time has finally come to clean out your garage of those aluminum cans you have been collecting all winter long. The Youth Group will be collecting aluminum cans now through the end of May. Please leave your bag(s) of cans by the shed. And while you're at it, pull and save the tabs off the aluminum cans before recycling them. The tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. Each tab is worth 50 cents! There is a labeled container on the narthex table to put them in. The tabs may be brought in at anytime, not just when we are collecting cans.

Sandboxes needed: It was discovered that both preschool sandboxes were damaged (either accidently or intentionally) last weekend (May 3-4). A large crack in the cover of the turtle sandbox made in unusable and the entire sandbox had to be discarded. If anyone has a gently used sandbox with a cover that they would like to donate to the preschool, please talk to Ann Winkler.

Church cleaners needed: Can you lend a hand? We need church cleaners for May 24th and 31st.

The lawn is growing!! With the recent rain, the lawn has really begun to green up and grow. If you can help with mowing, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex.

Lord's Supper The Bible convinces us (1 Cor: 10-11) that Holy Communion is an expression of unity in faith. In our Lutheran Church we practice this Scriptural principle by offering the sacrament to confirmed WELS members (this practice is called "close communion" and it was also followed in the early Christian Church). If you are not affiliated with a WELS congregation we would politely ask that you observe rather than participate in the sacrament. WELS and ELS visitors who may desire to commune are asked to speak with the pastor before the service. Emmanuel members are reminded to register by signing the card in the pew rack.

About the movie "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed". It exposes the scientific problems with Darwinian evolution as well as the ruthlessness of its defenders in suppressing academic freedom. It's not a Christian film, but it is very much worth your time because you will get a better understanding of the creation/evolution battle and how it is on the front lines of the culture war. Plus, you will see compelling evidence for design in the universe.
